Dawson Huang

Dawson gained his Bachelor of Medicine in acupuncture and herbal medicine from Henan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2009. After graduation he worked in China, South Korea & New Zealand as an Acupuncturist and Herbalist in the last decades.
Dawson’s special interest is in the management of chronic pain. He is also qualified to help with diseases or disorders such as women’s and men’s health, problems related to both the digestive and respiratory systems, skin conditions, weight management and cosmetic acupuncture.
His approach is to combine therapies (as appropriate) including acupuncture, cupping, herbal medicine and moxibustion to achieve the greatest outcome for the patient.
As a skilled practitioner Dawson has helped clients from over 70 countries. In his practice, he understands the diversity of culture and tailors an individualized treatment plan based on a patient’s needs and concerns.
Dawson’s goals are to relieve the discomfort a person may be experiencing and share his knowledge to educate people on how to live a pain free and comfortable life.
Dawson is multi-lingual speaking English, Mandarin and Korean and is a leader in our Dunedin team.

David Shin

David completed his training at the New Zealand College of Chinese Medicine and then worked as an acupuncturist in a busy clinic in Auckland for five years. By providing over 5000 sessions of acupuncture treatments, he has accumulated valuable experience regarding muscular-skeletal problems, particularly in pain management.
David also has special interests in general health maintenance (both mental and physical) and internal disorders by using acupuncture, cupping, Tuina, and herbal medicine.
In 2022 he moved to Dunedin to join PRO Acupuncture.
In his spare time, he likes exploring nature, reading and food-hunting.
David’s philosophy is to care for people with his heart.

Dr Jay Jing
Acupuncturist

Jay completed a combined bachelor’s and master’s degree in Acupuncture from the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM) in 2008. Before coming to New Zealand, he completed his two years of residency training at Guang’An Men’s Hospital – a teaching hospital of BUCM.
Following his arrival in New Zealand, He – taught and practised acupuncture in Auckland for five years, during which time he also held the positions of lecturer and clinical supervisor at the New Zealand College of Chinese Medicine from 2011 to 2015. In 2016 he relocated to Dunedin to commence private practice.
Jay has just completed his second medical degree at the Otago Medical School. He is currently working at the O&G department at Dunedin Hospital.
His special interest is in managing women’s health, including infertility, IVF support with acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, pregnancy-related issues, and common internal problems such as asthma, hay fever, vertigo, migraine, and IBS.

Jeff Ji
Physiotherapist

Jeff completed his medical training at Jingsu University in 2009, then he worked as paramedic doctor for five years before moving to New Zealand. He first completed post graduate diploma in emergency management at AUT, then further completed Bachelor of physiotherapy at the University of Otago. Since graduation, he worked a physiotherapist both in primary care and tertiary hospital to gain various skills and experience. Jeff currently works as rotator physiotherapist at Dunedin hospital and meanwhile work for PRO Acupuncture.
Jeff also completed Pilates instructor training
Jeff can speak Mandarin & English.

Jessie Hui Jia Young
Physiotherapist

Jessie ( also known as Hui Jia) was born and grew up in Malaysia. She moved to New Zealand in 2012 and completed high school, followed by a bachelor of physiotherapy from the University of Otago. Once graduated from the university, she joined an extensive private practice physiotherapy clinic based in Palmerston North. She has built up a varied experience with musculoskeletal conditions, including sports injures, work-related assessments and injuries and post-surgical rehabilitation. In 2020, she moved to Dunedin to work for the outpatient department of Dunedin. She joined to PRO Acupuncture Dunedin branch a year later.
Jessie has also completed a postgraduate certificate in Acupuncture and attended numerous workshops and seminars to deepen his knowledge and skills. Her goal is to apply a holistic approach to assist people back to their everyday life and living a better quality of life.
In her spare time, Jessie enjoyed exploring the wild and reading.
Jessie can speak English, Mandarin and some Cantonese.

Sean Peng

Sean is a New Zealand-registered physiotherapist with a degree from the University of Otago, bringing a unique blend of skills and experiences to his practice. Passionate about musculoskeletal (MSK) treatment, Sean integrates traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) techniques into his approach, a synergy made possible by his background as a registered acupuncturist in New Zealand. His qualifications include a degree in TCM, a degree in acupuncture, and a diploma in massage, all of which enable him to provide holistic, personalized treatment tailored to each individual’s needs.
Sean believes in considering all aspects of his clients’ lives, including their living environment and lifestyle, to ensure a comprehensive approach to care that addresses the root causes of their conditions. By combining the best of both Western and Eastern practices, he strives to empower his clients on their journey to recovery and well-being.
Outside of his professional life, Sean has a deep appreciation for the outdoors and enjoys exploring New Zealand’s diverse landscapes through road trips and photography, capturing the natural beauty that surrounds him.

Sheen is a New Zealand-registered physiotherapist with a passion for musculoskeletal (MSK) treatment and sports medicine. Always eager to expand her skill set, Sheen also explores neurorehabilitation and community-based rehabilitation to provide well-rounded, personalized care for each patient. Her holistic approach focuses on tailoring treatment and management plans to meet the unique needs and goals of every individual.
Fluent in both English and Chinese, Sheen ensures effective communication with a diverse range of clients.
In her free time, Sheen enjoys spending time by the beach and staying active through fitness training.

Anne Han

Anne is a dedicated massage therapist originally from South Korea, now thriving in the beautiful landscapes of New Zealand. With over 10 years of experience in yoga and Pilates, Anne brings a deep understanding of both physical and mental well-being to her practice.

Allen works as an acupuncturist and massage therapist in Christchurch branch. He has completed a combined bachelor and master degree in Acupuncture and Tuina (Chinese style massage) from Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine in 2012. After graduation he worked as Chinese Medicine doctor in a tertiary hospital in Tianjin City for four years; since 2017, he moved to Christchurch to practice acupuncture and massage.
Allen has the special interest in the management of musculoskeletal problems such as sports injury, muscle injuries, frozen shoulder etc. He can also apply acupuncture and massage together to help you with the neuropathic pain such as sciatic and tension headache, migraine etc.
Allen believes that the basis for everyone to stay healthy is to maintain balance, he loves to help anyone who comes to him.

Emily has completed a combined bachelor and master’s degree in Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine from Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine in China.
Before coming to New Zealand, she worked as a Chinese Medicine doctor in a tertiary hospital for 5 years.
In 2017 she moved to Christchurch to practice acupuncture and massage. As a beneficiary of acupuncture treatment, Emily devoted herself enthusiastically to acupuncture, massage, and Chinese herbal medicine. She holds a strong belief acupuncture can help people to get the balance of Qi (the most important energy of your body).
Emily has a special interest in women’s health, fertility and pregnancy support, mental wellbeing, internal disorders, weight management and pain disorder.
She is an excellent listener and uses her knowledge and skills to help patients live without illness.

Val Tie

Val originally from Christchurch, holds a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from the University of Otago. Since graduating, he has gained extensive experience working in private practices across rural areas.
With a strong passion for treating musculoskeletal conditions such as lower back and neck pain, Val employs a range of manual therapy techniques, including massage, mobilization, taping, and dry needling, to enhance rehabilitation outcomes.
Val is committed to empowering his clients by helping them take control of their health and well-being. He is always available to provide guidance and support throughout their recovery journey.
In addition to English, Val is fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese.

Danny Wu

Danny gained his Bachelor of Health Science in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, from New Zealand College of Chinese Medicine in 2013. After graduation, he worked as an acupuncturist in Pukekohe for two years helping the local community recovering from injuries. Since 2015, he has been based in Auckland working with a team of physiotherapists focusing on common sports injuries and many post operations rehabilitation. In 2020, Danny decided to start his private acupuncture practice doing what he can to help patients improve their health.
Danny has completed various workshops by the renowned Dr. Richard Tan and Dr. Xiaochuan Pan.
Danny can speak fluent English, Mandarin, his goal is to bring his knowledge to educate each patient to optimize a pain free and comfortable life.
